Faithful on the Road

Our last show was a six-month marathon tour of the chillingly comic thriller, Faithful by Chazz Palminteri
(best known for his film roles in The Usual Suspects, A Bronx Tale, and Bullets Over Broadway).
Palminteri turns the “mob” drama into comic gold.
Audiences were laughing uproariously one minute and catching their breath at startling twists the next.
Michael played Tony, a neurotic hitman who calls his psychiatrist in the middle of a job.
Victoria was Margaret, his intended victim who messes with his mind,
and newcomer Erick Gothard was her charming husband Jack,
who may or may not have hired Tony to do her in.

The tour began in Port Orford at Theatre 101 in April; Ship Ashore Resort, Smith River, CA, in May;
The Chetco Pelican Players, Brookings, in June;
Café Kitanishi, Gold Beach, in July; Hood River Elks Lodge in October.
Whew!

Many of these venues were dinner theatre, which is always fun, both for the audience and for us.
We received enthusiastic receptions at all of our usual haunts,
and it was a great adventure to add the new venue, The Hood River Elks Lodge.

Side note: We were especially interested to learn from our host in Hood River that The Elks originated with a group of actors who gathered socially after shows, calling themselves The Happy Corkers. When one of their number died, they pooled their resources to aid his widow and children. Their first act of charity led to many others and eventually to the founding of what we now know as the BPOE. Cool, huh?
